“Kids these days…”

“All they want to do is watch TV and play video games…”

Sound familiar???

Today’s generation of youth gets a bad rap. Often described in the media as “entitled”, “lazy”, “selfish”, it’s easy to get the impression that today’s teens and tweens will handily send our world to the brink of destruction. While it may be true that our kids sometimes spend more time on electronics than we’d like, I see something else when I look at today’s youth.

I see teens who spend days off from school not vegging in front of the TV, but organizing supply drives for organizations they care about, serving their neighbors in their communities and on the other side of the globe. Who have birthday parties at animal shelters and ask guests to bring pet food and blankets instead of gifts. Who take music and voice lessons and go on to become worship leaders in their churches during middle and high school. Others contribute in quiet ways, spreading kindness and love wherever they go. Why don’t we hear THOSE stories?

ENTER THE “WHO I AM” TWEEN/TEEN PHOTOGRAPHY PROJECT.

I am bringing back the Who I Am project to tell these stories that deserve to be told, while also giving an all-important shot of self-confidence that kids will receive by having an AMAZING photograph.

WHO I’M LOOKING FOR

I’m looking for kids ages 10-16 who have interesting hobbies, activities, experiences, and/or stories that make them uniquely themselves, and who would like to participate in the project.

WHY “WHO I AM”?

Let’s face it - these years are rough. Body changes, acne, bullies, and increasing academic and athletic pressure are a lot for kids to handle. Do I even need to mention the devastating effects of social media that are experienced by way too many kids? The “Who I Am” project will celebrate the special characteristics that make your child one of a kind, and will tell the story of who she is - not just what she does. Imagine the impact that a single beautiful image can make for your tween or teen’s self-image.
