I was wracking my brain trying to think of a fun location for the cover shoot for Cy Fair Parent’s February issue (which of course was a Valentine’s Day theme session). Just before Christmas, I drove by The Bake Shoppe in Cypress, TX to pick up a cake for my sister’s birthday, and there it was – this gorgeous old pink sofa, sitting right outside. The next day I called the bakery and talked with the owner (who’s fantastic, by the way) about doing these portraits at the bakery, and she graciously allowed us to shoot there and even provided two ginormous cookies for the shoot! (They were delicious as well as gorgeous!) Then to top it all off, this little gal had all kinds of expressions for me – it was a “sweet” session indeed.
These themed editorial sessions are so much fun. I’m booking now for April and May covers, so if you’d like to see your little sweetie’s face on the cover, let’s talk!
Hello friends! I am freshly inspired by my NEW office space (previously known as the guest bedroom, ha!), and now that I am organized and feeling oh-so-on-top-of-things, I am ready to announce my pregnancy model search! I’ve been wanting to do this for awhile but just haven’t had time with the fall and holiday rush. I would like to build the pregnancy portion of my portfolio, so if you’ve been thinking about having maternity portraits created to document this exciting and wondrous time, this may be perfect for you!
So here’s the deal:
- I’m looking for three ladies who will be between 32-37 weeks pregnant between now and March 1.
- These will be mini sessions (approx. 30 minutes) and will be held in or near Cypress or Tomball.
- Husbands and older siblings are welcome, but the focus will be on the mommy. 🙂
- There is NO session fee and models will receive three complimentary high-resolution files of your choice with a print release.
- If you choose to book a newborn session as well (trust me, you will!) you are automatically IN –and you’ll receive 24 complimentary, custom-designed birth announcements as my gift to you – plus one more special gift so juicy I’m not even putting it on the blog – you’ll have to email me for the info!
- Sorry, but “Welcome 2012” sessions are not eligible.
If you are interested, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org ASAP with your name, due date and a photo. Please also describe who else (if any) will be present for the session – names and ages. If you’ve had specific ideas in mind for a pregnancy session, please let me know that too. I will choose three models from the inquiries I receive and will notify everyone by Feb. 6. If you know of someone who is expecting, please send them my way!
Today, you are six.
You, the one who made me a mother.
You, the one who turned life as we knew it upside down and inside out.
You, the one who sat up, pulled up, and took your first steps, all between 7 and 8 months – and haven’t slowed down since.
You, who knows just which buttons to push – and have finally figured out how to use your charm to try to get yourself out of trouble. (By the way, your sister figured that out well before she was 2.)
You, who have never met a stranger and who impresses everyone you meet with your extensive vocabulary and wise-beyond-your-years comments.
You, who loves Star Wars, Transformers, anything with wheels or wings, Wii, and playing outside – but will still sit next to your little sister on the couch and watch Dora with her.
You, who are grumpy as anything when you get off the bus after school because you ate lunch at 11 a.m. (yep, you got that from me).
You, who asks more questions than I can answer.
You, who looks just like me on the outside but who is just like your father on the inside.
You, who are persistent as anything – except when it comes to reading. 🙂
You, who after your grandfather’s funeral a couple of months ago, wrote a book (in your own way, of course) about what you had experienced over those few days. You titled it Cold Winter Book.
You, who melts my heart on a daily basis.
Today, you are six – and I could not be more grateful for you, my first baby, my world. I love you.
