A child is a person who is going to carry on what you have started…The fate of humanity is in his hands.
Full of wonder, excitement, possibilities…and learning to explore the world on his own two feet. There is nothing like an almost-one-year-old boy! This session was for the September issue of Cy Fair Parent Magazine.
It is the sweet, simple things of life which are the real ones after all. — Laura Ingalls Wilder
“Simple” is probably the farthest thing from a new mommy’s mind. There’s lots to figure out (not the least of which is putting together all that baby gear!) – feeding, sleeping (that goes for everyone in the house!), am I going back to work or not, how am I going to do the grocery shopping, how am I going to MAKE DINNER, and lots of unknowns that you figure out pretty quickly – like the first time you attempt to leave the house with the baby and you learn that you need to plan an HOUR to get ready to go (no, I don’t know that from experience or anything). And the laundry – don’t even get me started on the LAUNDRY!
But as an outsider looking in (and as one who has ALWAYS had a love for infants), I want to encourage you, mom and dad – treasure these moments. They are truly fleeting. It will never be the same. You will never have as much time to kiss, cuddle, and just breathe in your new babe as you do now. So take your naps, feed the baby, change the baby, and give her as much love as you can – everything else can wait. At least for a little while. 🙂
