Mother’s Day – a day to celebrate the ones who  bring forth life, who help with the homework, who kiss the bo-bos, who chase the monsters away, who give everything they have to love and nurture the little ones they have been given.  And later, they are the ones who answer panicked phone calls from their own grown-up “little ones” about why the baby won’t stop crying or what to do for a high fever, who babysit at the drop of a hat, who rock the baby to sleep when mommy needs a break, who come running whenever they are needed.

There is nothing in the world like the love of a mother.  I will be eternally grateful to my own mom, who without knowing it at the time, taught me selfless love, sacrificial love, unconditional love.  I am hoping I can pass on just a bit of this to my own little ones as we travel our own journey of living and loving as a family.

So on this Mother’s Day, I give thanks for the ones who made ME a mommy – who carry my heart around with them wherever they go, who bring more joy to each day than I ever thought possible, who ARE my life.

Happy Mother’s Day!
