If you are in business, whether for yourself or someone else, take a second to pull up your social media profile photo (Facebook, LinkedIn, whatever you use for business).  Go ahead, I’ll wait.

(Really.  Go look.  Then come back.)

This is your visual presence to the world.  What is it saying about you?

If you’re like a lot of people, you may not have given much thought to your photo.  It may be 10-plus years old.  You may have grabbed one of your family shots and cropped everyone (or most of everyone) out.  Perhaps you asked a friend to snap a photo of you (not really knowing what was going on in the background), or maybe you really wanted to get something up fast and uploaded a quick selfie taken in the driver’s seat of your car (seat belt and all).

OR, you do realize that a great, up-to-date photo is important, but getting it done seems overwhelming.  Maybe you don’t know what to wear.  Perhaps you’ve gained some weight.  You think you never look good in photos. Or you just don’t have time to think about a photo shoot.

How do I know this?  Because I see it every day – and I’ve heard them all.

But it doesn’t have to be this way.

I’ll help you communicate exactly what you want to say with your photographs.  You want your profile photo to represent your best self.  You want to visually communicate your professionalism and a sense of what it is that you do.  A yoga instructor’s headshot should look very different from an accountant’s.  An attorney’s headshot will communicate a different message than an artist’s.  From how to get ready to what to wear, I’ll walk you through the process – and I promise, it will be easier than you think.

“Kids these days…”

“All they want to do is watch TV and play video games…”

Sound familiar?  Today’s generation of youth gets a bad rap.  Often described in the media as “entitled”, “lazy”, “selfish”, it’s easy to get the impression that today’s tweens and teens will handily send our world to the brink of destruction.  While that may be true for some, I see something else when I look at today’s youth.

I see teens who spend their “flood days” off school not vegging in front of the TV, but ripping out wet drywall and carpets from flooded neighbors’ homes.  Who have birthday parties at an animal shelter and ask guests to bring pet food and blankets instead of gifts.  Who take music and voice lessons and go on to become worship leaders in their churches during middle and high school.  Why don’t we hear THOSE stories?

Enter the “Who I Am” tween/teen photography project

I am starting the “Who I Am” project to tell these stories that deserve to be told, while also giving an all-important shot of self-confidence that kids will receive by having an AMAZING photograph.

Who I’m looking for

I’m looking for models for this photography project, ages 10-15.  We will ask the model and parents a few questions, then combine the text and photographs to create one impactful piece of art.  Many of the stories will also be collected in a hardback coffee table book that will be produced in the fall of 2016 and ready for holiday gift giving.

Why “Who I Am”?

Let’s face it…these years are rough.  Body changes, acne, mean girls (need I say more?), and increasing academic and athletic pressure are a lot for kids to handle.  Do I even need to mention the devastating effects of social media that are experienced by way too many kids?  The “Who I Am” project will celebrate those special characteristics that make your child one-of-a-kind, and will tell the story of who she is – not just what she does.  Imagine the impact that a single beautiful image can make for your tween or teen’s self-image.

Heartwarming photos of you with your kids aren’t frivolous – they’re a necessity.

Because to them?

You’re too indispensable to be omitted from their past.

Introducing Celebrate Mothers…the Mother’s Day project to make sure YOU aren’t an invisible part of their childhood.

Mothers Day 2016 Amanda Faucett Photography

What is it?

Celebrate Mothers creates beautiful artwork of a busy mom and her children, so she can look back when her children have grown and not regret that she was always behind the camera.  (Or that the only shots she has with her kids are cell phone selfies.)

The imagery is mixed with her hand-written words answering, “What do you want to remember most about your children at the age they are right now?”  And the words or drawings of her children answering, “What do you love most about your mom?”

Mark your calendar for April 11, 14 and 16.  We only have three dates open for sessions and a limited number of sessions each day.  Book yours before the Celebrate Mothers portrait sessions are gone.

The Celebrate Mothers project is closed. Look for another celebration of Moms in 2017!  Join my email list to make sure you’re notified.

Mother's Day 2016 Mini Sessions

April hath put a spirit of youth in everything.”   -William Shakespeare

Every year, the magical transformation that unfolds in my backyard during the last two weeks of March is indeed a balm for the soul.  The grass, which has languished, brown and dormant, is suddenly awakening with the deep, emerald green of new growth.  Our azaleas, those ubiquitous Southern blooms, have burst forth from their buds, releasing their secreted potential into brilliant displays of white and pink.  And who can forget the trumpet lily bulbs?  They are still hidden away beneath the crumbly earth, but will soon be pushing their way skyward, reaching for the sun’s sparkle, scarlet and proud.

Each season brings its own gifts, and the beauty of renewal is always my favorite of spring’s calling cards.  The metamorphosis of my backyard view inspires me to open my eyes and see, really see what’s around me.  Like the fact that my daughter’s 6-year molar is now fully ascended in the back of her mouth (I’ll spare you the photo!).  My son, lean and bemoaning his shorter stature, has almost grown out of his fall jeans.  It’s time to capture them again, right now, in the midst of their own transformations, wiggly and giggly and pure, showcasing the exuberance of a childhood that is fully “in bloom” and all too quickly lost.

If you want to celebrate the awakening of spring with some gorgeous portraits of your most precious people, I’d love for you to join me for my “In Bloom” Limited Edition sessions, May 7-9.  I’ll have a perfectly darling, natural light studio set (northwest Houston, TX) for morning and afternoon sessions – perfect for babies through elementary-age kiddos.

At 18 months in the making, this shoot has to be a record for me.  Originally scheduled as an engagement shoot, we rescheduled for after the wedding for various reasons.  Then I got the fabulous request to postpone it again…for a NEWBORN session!  To make things even more special, we held the shoot while two of the grandparents were visiting from Great Britain, and the local grandmother got to be in on the party, too.

Happy BIRTHday, sweet Libby!
